After-LocalAuthorsReception-Report (finally)

Gosh, it's November and a few days before Thanksgiving and I realized I haven't updated in months.

The Local Authors Reception at the Waldorf Library in August was successful, as usual. We had a good crowd, and although I did not sell anything that day, I talked to a lot of people so they know my face and name.

In reality I haven't done much since the Local Authors Reception in August. I retired at the end of October; thus, I've been dealing with a lot of paperwork and follow up phone calls and home projects, etc. So I decided to dedicate the first few months to doing home projects that have been waiting for someone. Most likely, I'll start back to writing when it gets too cold outside to do anything else.

I've spent much of the summer investigating other ways to increase my sales; I need to reach a wider female audience. I value my fans, but need to grow my base.

Several months ago, we lost one of our favorite supporters: Booknuts in White Plains, MD. They allowed local authors to sell their wares in the store (something many big-name chains will not), but due to personal reasons, they closed their doors. I recently got word that a manager of our local BAM books store will be giving us some valuable information on how we Indy authors can get our books into bigger chains during one of our LJWC meetings; sure hope this opens some doors.

I've also gotten a lead on another local bookstore that may be willing to host a "local authors reception" and will check that out as soon as I find their location.

All in all, I may have to consider some of my inventory a total loss and move on to new stories.

One other thing: at some point in my near future I want to introduce some arts and crafts at local craft fairs. I have to figure out a work area, buy inventory, and figure out where to store it.

So, as you see, I have plenty to keep me busy.

Until the next time, pick up a book, scrunch down under a throw, and get lost in a story.

2015 ArtFest After hours Report

Reporting in to say that the event on Saturday, June 13th, in LaPlata, MD., went well.

It was hot, but thankfully we had a breeze to prevent stagnant air. However, with the wind came an all day effort to keep literature from blowing off the tables, and the books getting blown off their easels.

The Life Journeys Writers Club founder, Yvonne Medley, was there passing out LJWC literature and postcards announcing the musical presentation of her Prison Plumbline novella.

There was a lot of activity at our tent; mostly for LJWC information. However, I did manage to sell 6 books that day, mainly in the last hour, which makes it a very profitable day.

And, finally, I am signing up for the annual Local Authors Reception on August 8th. It will be held at the Waldorf Library again, from 1 - 3 p.m.

I am happy to have these two opportunities to make some sales. I will continue to find other venues to  reach more of my target audience.

That's all for now. Till next time.

The LaPlata, MD 2015 Artfest

Hello once again.

I am happy to report that I will have a table set up at the 2015 Artiest in LaPlata again this year. I will be located next to the Life Journeys Writers Club tent, to the right of the town hall.

I have been waiting for another opportunity to reach more readers. Fingers crossed I do well on Saturday.

The one problem I will have is: where to put the six books? LOL. Yes, a wonderful problem, but still, I have only so much space. I think, what I will do is, keep Janie 1 & 2 in the box and set up the most recent books: Hooked Too (plus few copies of Hooked), Janie's Got It Bad (book 3) and Witchy Tales: Gail Warning. I will put out my post cards with the information on the books (one for each story) and will pass those out, instead.

It is really easier to buy the book directly from me as I sell them for $8.00 and there's no tax or postage added. But, one can always buy the Kindle version for $2.99 online.

I'm just excited to finally get out there once again and make sales...even if it'll be 94 out.

Really hope someone is reading this and will make the trip out to check us out.

Till next time.

Hooked Too is now in print

Yes, it's true. You can visit my website and click the link to find Hooked Too on Amazon.

I will be at the 2015 Artfest in LaPlata on June 13th. I will have all 6 books available if you would like a signed copy. Remember, if you have a reader, you can get them for $2.99 on Amazon.

I am working on getting a PayPal button on the website for those who wish to order directly from me.  It's slightly cheaper unless you wait until Amazon reduces the cost.

This will be the last one published this year as I need to concentrate on sales.

I will, however continue to write during this time. I want to release Janie's Got It Good, Book 4 sometime next year. I am also working on another romance.

Will provide an update when I can. Until then, thank you for your support.

Happy Wednesday.

Great news (for me, at least):

I have ordered the proof for Hooked Too. I have also posted the cover page on my website, which will be updated further once I get the book proofed and uploaded to Kindle. Here is a picture:

I wanted the cover to be similar to the first book, so that it will be easy for those who have purchased the first one to spot it.

Will give another update as soon as I place the order for hard copies, and upload to Kindle.

Janie's Got It Bad

Janie's Got It Bad is now in print! You can order directly through Createspace and Amazon. At this time, I will not be uploading to Barnes & Noble.  You can also request a signed copy from me; check my website for more information.

For the month of April only, the Kindle version will be offered for 99 cents.

Thank you, once again, to all those who have supported me during my long journey.

Janie's Got It Bad has been ordered

Hello All,

I just placed an order for Book Three of Janie's Got series (see cover on previous post).

I have also resubmitted Books One & Two to Kindle with the new cover designs. I will also be ordering a few hard copies for future sales, but that may be next month.

The sequel, Hooked Too, is back from the editor and I will start to work on that next week.

Once both of these are published, I will really need to concentrate on marketing and sales this summer.

I will be retiring from my full time job this fall, which I hope means I will have more time to work on  eight or nine other stories that are gathering cobwebs, waiting for me.

Thank you all who have been with me as I've walked the path of the writing and publishing world.

Updating for 2015

Hello all.

It's hard to believe that February is coming to an end. It's been an eventful month, weather-wise. And, although we've had a fairly mild winter, except for a few days in the teens, I am ready for spring.

Since my last post, I have submitted Hooked Too to my editor. While she is working on that one, I have done the revision she suggested on Janie's Got It Bad, the 3rd book in the Janie's Got series. The proof is now in my possession and I am doing a read-through for errors, or changes I'd like to make. When finished, I will hand it off to one of my proof readers to catch what my editor and I might have missed.  Below is the book cover, as well as the new design on Book Two.

Please check out my website (the link is at top of home page) for further details.
